Leh
is a city of Indian –administered Ladakh of Kashmir region .It is the
largest city and become the joint capital of Ladakh ,which
is the part of Indian –administered union territory .Leh was capital of the kingdom
of Ladakh in the past .Leh city is situated in the Leh district of India .Leh Ladakah is made of Tibet style architectural
design in all over the region. Leh
Ladakh is situated by the side Indus River. The mountains dominate around the
city of Leh Ladakh. City lies between 34.1526 0 N latitude and 77
.57710 E longitude and with an altitude of 2300n to 5000m above the
sea level. Leh Ladakh is of cold desert
climate .It is very cold in winters and remains from late November to early
March .The city’s minimum temperature is
well below the freezing point for most of the winter. It‘s high elevation is
main cause of cold weather .Generally fine and warm during the day of remaining
months. The city’s average maximum temperature is 25 0 C and average
minimum is -15 0 C. The average annual rainfall is only
35mm(1.37inches).The ancient inhabitants of Ladakh were Dards, an Indo-Aryan
Race. Immigrants of Tibet, Skardo and
near by parts like Purang ,Guge settled in Ladakh, whose racial characters and
cultures were in consonance with early settles. Buddhism traveled from central
India to Tibet via Ladakh leaving its
imprint in Ladakh.Islamic missionaries also made a peaceful penetration of Islam in the early 16th
