Mumbai is one of  the metropolicity of  India .Largest Domestic as well as foreign tourist visit in this city. It is one of the popular city in the tourist world with largest tourist spots and  locations available near by the city  Mumbai is situated on the western coast of India by the bank of Arabian  Sea  and is located at 0 altitude that is at sea level with an average altitude of 10 to 15 meters .The city lies between latitude 18 053 North , Longitude 700 East .Mumbai is made of seven separate  island and known as island city. The name  of  the  islands are Mazagon, Calaba , Mahim, Parel , Warli ,Girganum and Dongri. Most of the island were razed to fill in the shallows to connect them with each other. Mumbai  has four small rivers and three lakes named as Dahiser River , Oshiwara  River, Posisar  River, Mithi River ,while  the names  of the lakes are Tulsi lake ,Vihar lake,Powai lake These  rivers and lakes supply the city with water. Mumbai is based on the coastal region known as konkan. The city covers the total area of 440 square km.It has hilly northern part and the highest point of Mumbai is 450 metres  in Sanjay Gandhi Park. The eastern coast of island has rows of Mangroves ,where the coast happens to be sandy and stony . Due to proximity to the sea ,the soil cover of this region is sandy to large extent. This  island city of Mumbai is divided into two distinct regions ,the city and the suburban have alluvial soil types. Back Bay is the largest bay in the  city. The coastline  of  Back bay is an inverted C-shaped  region  4 kilometres  in length  and Marine Drive is located along this stretch . North of Marine Drive is Worli Bay. The bay is also two kilometres in length .Mahim Bay is the second largest bay in the city. The Mithi River empties into the Mahim Creek which drains into the bay .The climate of  Mumbai is a tropical wet and dry climate. Mumbai ‘s climate can be best described as moderately hot with high level of humidity. It coastal  nature and tropical location ensure temperature won’t  fluctuate much throughtout the year. January is coolest  month  of  the  year for Mumbai with mean daily  minimum  temperature  being 16.80 C  and  mean  daily 


maximum temperature  being 30.70 C. Mumbai finds prominent reference from the times of stone age ,the kolis , a Marathi fishing community were the earliest known settlers of  the island .The islands came under the control of successive indigenous dynasties viz Satavahanas ,Abniras ,Vatatakes,Kularcharis Konhan ,Mauryas ,Chalakyas ,Pasntrakutos ,Siharas ,Muslim ruler of Gujarat ,Portuguese ,Mughal and British. After India‘s  independence in 1947 ,the territory of Mumbai Presidency retained by India was restricted into Mumbai State. The area of Mumbai State , increased ,after several princely state joined the Indian union were integrated into Mumbai State . After the Maharashtra  movement  ,the City  of Mumbai was declared as the capital of the newly created Maharashtra State by the Central Govt Of India . The main tourism sites located in Mumbai are  Mani Bhavan , Sanjay Gandhi Park , Mumba  Devi Temple , Hanging Gardens ,Horniman Circle Garden , Kanheri Caves , Girgaum Chowpatty , Essel World , Juhu  Beach , Marine Drive , Crawford Market , Princess Of Whales ,Elephanta Caves ,Haji Ali Mosque , Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus , Sion Hllock Fort , Municipal Corporation Building Mumbai,  Babulnath Temple , Marve Beach ,Dr Bhau Daji Lal Museum,  JogeshwariCaves , MountMary,  ChurchBandra,  Mahaka caves  Castella De Aguda ,Jijamata Udyaan ,Bombay High Court ,ISKCON Temple ,Siddivinayak Temple, Taraporewala Aquarium , Kamala Nehru Park. Mumbai  is  enriched  with ancillary attraction which attract more and more foreign and domestic   tourist to this city.  All these ancillary services in a way  helps to improve the tourist industry in Mumbai. There are many more tourism product available in the local Market Mumbai such as Inoribit Mall (Malad ) link road (Bandra), R City Mall ( Suburban  Mumbai )Hill Road  (Bandra). Hindmata Market ,Colaba Causeway ,The Bombay  Store, Palladuim Mall, Lower Parel. Some of the market made of old traditional style architecture design and where as some are made of new style architecture design. Type of festival & fair available in Mumbai are : Global Citizen festival , Mumbai International Festival,Ganesh Chaturthi,Mumbai Film Festival ,Oktoberfest Mumbai, Youtube Fanfest Mumbai,Krishna Janmashtami ,Dahi Handi Festival Mumbai,Holi Festival ,India Art Festival ,Banganga  Festival ,Elephanta Festival ,Kala Ghoda Arts Festival ,Gudi Padwa Festival,Coconut . Type of Cuisine available in Mumbai are : Bataya  Rassa, Obra Bhaji, Potato  Bhaji Chakli , Chivda ,Besan laddu, Shakkar Pale, Karanji, Modak, Puran Poli ,Sheera ,Basundi , Akuri On Toast , Batata Vada ,Bombay Sandwich , Brun Maska,Bhel Puri, Chicken Mayo Roll, Rag Da Pattice, Faluda  and Frankie . Mumbai is accessible by different modes of transport such Air ,Rail ,Metro and Road.The international airport of Mumbai operate flight to major destinations of the world. The domestic airport of Mumbai is at Santa Cruz ( Chhatapati Shivaj Airport ). Air India (domestic carrier ) and other private airline operates their services is well connected with rest of India. Rail is services  are  well connected with  reset of  India , it operates from Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Terminus ,kalian ,kasara ,khopoli , Andheri , Panvel ,Thane, Vashi Churchgate and Dahanu Road Station by Western Railway Services . Many people use surface transport to enter the city. There are a number of private and  state owned buses which operate to and from Mumbai. Various categories of accommodation are available in  Mumbai for the tourist, such as Five Star Hotels ,First Class Hotels , Nonstar Hotels, Resort ,lodges ,Guesthouse and Dharmshalas etc. on the outskirts and also with in easy motorable distance there are many week –end resorts .There are some other accommodation like cheap Hostel and paying guest accommodation etc are also available in Mumbai .There are many lodges  which are inexpensive with differerent  levels of facilities are also available .Mumbai is enrich with all short of cuisines ,festival and fairs to provide better hospitality and services to both international and domestic tourists
