Amravati is second largest city in the Vidarbha region
of Maharashtra .Also ,Amravati is the ninth largest city of Maharashtra state
.Amravati orginal name was “Udumbravati”, and got the ancient name from historic Ambadevi
temple. Amravati is one of the nominated city under smart cities
mission in the state of Maharastra along with other cities of the state. Amravati
is located at 20.930N latitude and 77.75 0 E longitude which
is situated above the sea level of 343
meters(1125 feet).It lies 156 km (97 mi) west side of Nagpur. Chikhaldare is
about 80 km from Amravati city which is only hill station in the Vidarbha
region of the Maharastra.The main climate of Amravati is tropical wet and dry
climate with hot ,dry summers and mild
to cool winter.There are three season at Amravati such as summer
,monsoon and winter.The average rainfall is 1052mm.Amravati average maximum temperature is 30.7 0C
(87.3) 0F and average minimum temperature is 20.9 0C (69.6

.Amravati has evidence of human
settlement from 11th
century. The marable statue of the Jain Tirthankara Rishabhanatna has been
found that the statues are of 11th
century .In 13 th century ,region was ruled by Hindu king of Devagiree (Yadav) .After that it come under the control
of Mughal ruler .Aurangzab ruled the city during sixteenth century.Amravati
become war zone between Hindu and Muslim ruler and finally came under the control of Chhatrapati Shaha Maharaj.
After it came under the control of
Chhatrapati he gave the Amravati and Badhera to Shri Ranoji
Bhosle. Then city was reconstructed and developed by Shri Ranoji Bhosle . In the 18th century it came under
the control of British ruler.After Independence it came under the control of
Indian Government and became a part of
Nagpur area which is belong to Maharashtra
