The Andaman and Nicobar islands is a
union territory of India it consists of 1836 islands grouped into two Island groups the northern Andaman islands and the southern Nicobar islands
,which separated by a 150 km wide channel Among these Islands, only 31 are
inhabited .Port Blair is the capital of Andaman
and Nicobar Islands and largest city of the union territory. The Andaman and
Nicobar islands located about 1,190 km from Chennai and 1,255 km from Kolkata. The
islands are sandwiched between the Bay of Bengal to the west and the Andaman sea to the east
with the northern –most point located 901 km from the mouth of Hooghly river. Andaman
and Nicobar lies between 10.7449 0N latitude and 92.5000 0E
longtitude .The highest point is the Saddle
peak at 737 m (2,418ft) above the sea
which is located in North Andaman island .Andaman and Nicobar is islands shares
maritime borders with Indonesia Southside, Myanmar to the north –east island and Thailand is south east of island
.The island occupy a total land area of approximately 8,249 km (3,185 sqm ).The
island territory is divided into three districts –Nicobar ,South Andaman and
North, along with the third Middle of
Andaman.The islands have a tropical
climate with warm summer and not so chill winter.The rainfall is dependent upon
the monsoons season .The tropical cyclones
are common in late summer in the islands. Andaman and Nicobar
islands average maximum
temperature is 240C-
370C and average mini mum
temperature is 200C- 300C.The
annual rainfall of the islands is 3000 mm. Andamanese people may been isolated from other populations
during

islands ,Archeological evidence of
civilization has been dated back to 2200 years .In the 11th
century CE,Cholas one of the three Tamil
Kingdoms whos arrival at the island, when they decided
expedition in south east Asia by Naval
.The Danish were the first Europeans to arrive on the islands in 1755 .The
islands became part of the British Raj
in 1868.During the Second World War the
islands were invaded by the Japanese Empire . After Indian independence in 1947
it became a part of India Government and become Union Territory in 1950. Types of religion available in Andaman
