Kochi is major port city and also beautiful city which is located in South Western Coast Of India ,bordering the Laccadive Sea a part of the Arabian Sea .Kochi is mean that Queen Of Arabian Sea . It is part  of the district of Ernakulum in the state of Kerela .It is rich for culture and heritage centres of kerala .It also famous for natural backwaters system .Kochi is situated in the Southern State of Kerela .The city  located between the sea mouth of seven major rivers , coming from the western Ghats and pass through  kerala ‘s midlands , lowlands and coastal areas which fall out into the Arabian Sea. The city lies between 9.9312⁰N  longitude and 76.2673⁰E  latitude .The elevation of kochi from sea level is stands 0m (0 ft ).  The Tropical climate of Kochi which cause moderate  to high level of humidity  with an average temperature of 27.3⁰C  and annual rainfall of 3254mm. Kochi came to existence in the early 12^th century ,after the fall of the  Chera Kingdom . It was ruled by Perumpadappu Swaroopam in the local Vernacular . The first European settlement in kochin took on 1500 century . The Portugal ruled between 1503 to 1663. Royal family ruled along with Dutch authority up to 18 th century , When Dutch authority was ruling Cochin for a long time they became  weak .The   weakness of Dutch authority encourage Hyder Ali  to capture Kochi and  in  1773 Hyder Ali captured kochi .After signed the Anglo- Dutch Treaty of 1814, kochi  came under the  control under British Raj. In 1947 ,when India gained Independence from the British colonial rule , Cochin was the first princely state to join India willingly.
