Murshidabad is a historical city of West Bengal.It was  a  prosperous city during the period of the 18^th century .It was the capital of Bengal Subah  Mughal Empire for seventy years, area covering with West Bengal ,Bihar ,Odisha  and Bangladesh .Nawab of  Murshidabad use to rule this jurisdiction. Murshidabad was  centre for state’s  treasury , revenue office and  jurisdicary. Bengal  was the richest  mughal  province  at that time.The Murshidadad city was a cosmopolitan city .It was  home to wealthy banking and  merchant families from all over India and world. Murshidabad was famous for silk product .  Murshidabad silk is available  here till  today .The city was also a center of art and culture ,including ivory sculptors ,the Murshidabad style of Mughal paint, painting and Hindustani Classical music. Murshidabad is situated on the eastern bank of the Bhagirathi river ,a distributary of the river Ganges . Murshidabad  is located  between 24.18⁰ N  latitude and  88.27⁰ E  longitude. The city is situated at 10 m above the sea level. Murshidabad climate is tropical wet-and-dry. The city’s average maximum temperature is 28.96⁰ C and average minimum temperature is 20.02⁰ C. The city’s average rainfall is around 2699mm /106.3 inch per year. Murshidabad  was the part of the Gauda kingdom and vanga  kingdom in ancient period.The Merchant named Makhsus khan was initially developed the town of Murshidabad . Mughal Emperor hired people for post of Princely Nawab because it become difficult to control the subcontinent from Delhi .Murshid Quli khan was appointed as Princely Nawab of Murshidabad by the Mughals. Nawab Quli  khan shifted the capital from Dhaka to Murshidabad and started to rule this province from Murshidabad. European company had Business in Murshidabad .The last Nawab Siraji –ud –Daulah was over thrown in 1757 after war of Plassey and defecated by the British kingdom.Later British installed Mir Jafar’s family puppet dynasty and reduced their power from Nawab to Zamindar. The Merchant

                                                                

                                                             

and their families continued to prosper under company rule in India. In 1858 , the British government take control over Indian administration system. Murshidabad town came under control of  Bengal  Presidency and became  district  town  only.The entire revenue and judicial shifted  from Murshidabad to Kolkata. Hazarduari Palace was made for the Nawab and British civil servants  in 1837 at  Murshidabad Town . Murshidabad become a municipality in 1869.After  Independence it had become  a part of West Bengal government.
