Patna’s original named was Pataliputra . Pataliputra was derived from Sanskrit word.Patna is the modern name of Pataliputra .It was modern ancient city during the Magadha ruler Udayin in 490 BCE .City was built by Magadha ruler and made a small fort name Pataligrama near bank of Ganga river.Shishunaga Empires ,Nanda Empires ,Maurya Empires ,Gupta empires were major powers of that period made their capital in Pataliputra.In 1538-1545 Pataliputra was rebuilt by Sher Shah Suri and renamed as Patna.Patna is the largest city of the of the modern state of Bihar in India also stands as capital of the state. Vashali, Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodhgaya are centres of Hindu, Jain, Buddhist religion. It also sacared city of Sikhs because tenth Sikh Guru ,Guru Gobind Singh was born here. Some other rivers also pass through the city such as ,Gandak river and Punpun river.It also called as oldest inhabited place in the world. The city was commercial hub of India and was major trading centre during 19th century .Till today it is called second business city after Delhi . Patna is situated on the south Bank of the river Ganga in the eastern side of India ,lies between 25.60 N latitude to 85.10 E longitude .The total area of Patna is 250 km2 (97 sq mi).Patna is situated 53 m above the sea level.The climate of Patna is warm temperature.The good deal of rainfall in summer season and winter is continued for very little time.The maximum temperature in summer is 41.20C and winter season minimum temperature is 260C . The rainfall is about 1130 mm.The ancient era that is in 490 BC we found in traditional Buddhist literature about Patna
which was known as Pataliputra at that time.The king of
Magadha, Ajatashatru shifted his capital
from the hilly Rajargrha to Pataliputra .It has been observed from the Buddhist
literature that the last part of the
life of Gautma Buddha was spent at Patna. Then Mauryan empires ruled here
.After them Gupta and Pale empires established their rule here. Later years Mughal
empire took control over Patna and handed over this place to the Nawabs of
Bengal.Portuguese empires took over the control
of Patna in the year1515.Patna in 17th century become a
international trade centre during British Raj.East India company setup their
factory in Patna for trading the silk calico which encourage lucrative business
for other Europeans countries like Franch,Dutch and Portuguese. At the moment
other Europeans countries joint hand with British trades for trade, Patna
became famous worldwide as trade centre.Bihar became a separate state in 1935
by the British Raj and Patna become capital of the state. After Independence
since 1947 government of India took over
the charge of Bihar state and does not make any change in the state capital and
let Patna city to continue as the
capital of Bihar. The type of
