Puducherry is one of the famous tourist destination. Pondicherry was the name given by French. Now it has been changed by the government as Puducherry which is at present the capital and popular city of the Indian Union Territory of Puducherry. It is enriched with mixed cultural heritage such as Hindu , Christian, Muslim and other culture. Puducherry also, weekend popular destination , for nearby cities such as Chennai and Bengaluru . Tourist from all over world and from India ,visit Puducherry every years. Another attraction for the tourists is Sri Aurobindo Ashram . Those visitors who seek spiritual, yoga and meditation could enjoy their desired goal at this Ashram. Puducherry lies between 110 940 160 N Latitude / 790 800 830 E longitude . Area of Puducherry is 480 sq.km .It is situated in coastal area with an average elevation is at sea level and a Climate of Puducherry is warm ,dry and humid all through the year because of coastal region. In summer season ,average temperature is 32.10C ,Below 24.50C in winter season. Monsoon is limted in Puducherry. The Puducherry was part of different Hindu Rulers like Pallava Kingdom , Cholas Of Thanjavur, Vijayanagar Empire between 4th century to 14 century . After that, it came under Sultan Of Bijapur.French East India company take over the Puducherry and make their headquater in the year 1674. British take control over Puducherry, but part of Puducherry remain under control of France up to 1954.Indian government take over Puducherry in November 1954 and officially take over Puducherry from France in 1962.
