Pune is
called Poona up to 1978.It is the second largest city after Mumbai in the state
of Maharashtra . The city also called cultural capital of Maharashtra .Further
known as capital of the Bhonsle Marathas
during the 17th century . Poona was hometown of Marathas and the
city was central power for Maratha
Empire . It is important city for economic and industrial growth in the state of Maharashtra also stands as
eighth most populous city of India. Pune is situated on the western margin of
the Deccan plateau . Pune city is
located at the leeward side of the Sahyadri Mountain range ,which forms a barrier from the Arabian Sea. Pune is find between 18.5167260N latitude and
73.8562550E longitude.It’s altitude is 560m above the sea level.Pune
having hot semi –arid climate and bordering with tropical wet as well as dry
weather .Only three seasons ,winter ,monsoon and summer seasons are found in
Pune .The maximum temperature is 43.30 C in the summer season and minimum
temperature is 22 to 280 C in
the winter season. The annual rainfall
is 722 mm(28.43 In) in the city. The history of the City tell the city was control and ruled by
Ahmadnagar Sultante ,Mughals and Adil Shahi Dynasty.The famous historical event of the city of Pune are the war between Mughal
and Maratha and also war between Anglo and Maratha. In the 18th century Peshwas ,the prime ministers of the Maratha Empire ruled there and during that period it became the most important poitical centres of Indians subcontinent . Later it come under the control of British Raj . Maloji Bhosle, Nizamshai,Dadoji konddeo,Dhadphale and Peshwa Bajiria started Indian Independence movement from here. After independence Pune city became second major IT hub and manufacturing hub of India . It also called oxford of the east because of wide number of educational institutes located in the city which helps with their vast knowledge to improve the education system of country.
