Varanasi is a city situated near river Ganges in Northern India. It also a Metropolis city .In Hindu mythology ,it is described as central place for pilgrimage. City is transformed from traditional to modernize city over period of time. The city became popular in the tourist world being a Hindu religion centre. Kashi was ancient name of Varanasi .Banaras name officially change into Varanasi after 1947.Varanasi is among one of the world’s oldest continually inhabited cities. The Varanasi city is famous and known as educational and musical hubs since ancient period. Varanasi also produced many Indian philosophers ,poets ,writers and musicians . Varanasi is situation between 25.31760N latitude and 82.97 390E longitude .City is located at an elevation (264.8ft); in the eastern part of the Uttar Pradesh ,along the left crescent –shaped bank of the ganges.It is situated in the Indo-Gangetic plains of North India ,the land is very fertile because low-level floods in the ganges continually replenish the soil. The climate of Varanasi is humid subtropical climate with large variation between summer and winter temperatures .The dry in summer until June. July to October is monsoon season .The winters season Varanasi see very large variation like warm days and cold in nights.The aveage maximum temperature is up 460C in summer and winter the average minimum temperature is up 50 C. Varanasi was added to the union government of India in 1947,become a part of Uttar Pradesh after Indian independence .
