Lakshadweep is known for its exotic ,sun –kissed beaches and lush green
landscape of islands. The name Lakshadweep means in Malayalam or in Sanskrit is
hundred thousand islands exist in a particular island.The quite and lifestyle enhance the attraction of
Lakshadweep which attract the large number of Domestic tourists and
International tourists. Lakshadweep is part of
India and become India’s smallest union Territory .Lakshadweep is
located in the Arabain sea to the west and Laccadive sea to the east. Islands
about 220 -440 km off the Malabar coast of mainland (India). Lakshadweep spans
between approximately 8015’ to 11045’ North latitude and
approximate between 72 0 to 740 East longitude . Lakshadweep is the group of 36 islands.The island occupy a total land area of
approximate 32.62 km2 and ten of the islands are inhabited. The islands have a tropical monsoon climate and bordering on a tropical
Savanna climate while tropical cyclones arising in the Arabian sea rarely
strike the islands. Lakshadweep weather is warm throughout the year with
temperatures ranging from 20 to 32
degree celsius.The average annual rainfall in Lakshadweep is around 1600 mm (1.6
meters)Lakshadweep exist here from ancient time.First ruled and control by ancient Hindu ruler.
After that it became control under Arakkal ruler . During that period , Muslim
missionary activity and trade led to the
conversion of islands to Islam. Then Portuguese arrived in 1498 and took the control of Islands. After that ,
British government got control over Islands. After India’s Independence it became part of India and become union territory in 1956.
