Amritsar is the second largest city in the
state of Punjab (India). It ‘s name is
formed by the mixture of two names Ramdaspur and Ambarsar. It is also famous for Golden Temple. Amritsar lies between 31.63 0
N latitude and 74.87 0 E longitudes .The average elevation of
Amritsar is 234 metres (768ft) above the sea level . Amritsar is situated in the Majha region of the state
of Punjab in North India. It is 25 km east of the border with Pakistan.The
Amritsar has a hot semi-arid climate
bordering on a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate ,which is typically north-western Indian climate .The primary
season are summer, winter and monsoon .The
average annual maximum
temperature is 30.40 C and
average annual minimum temperature is 15.40 C. The annual
rainfall is about 703.4 millimetres (27.7
in).Amritsar city was founded by
Guru Ram Das .He was fourth sikh guru. It became holy city of Sikh religion
.The city construction activity took
place between 1574 and 1604 .Ahmad Shah
of the Durrani Empire invaded the
Amritsar, killed many innocent people and destroyed the beautiful city of Amritsar . During Sikh empire in 1882
Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Sher Singh again developed the city.During British Raj
massive Jallianwala Bagh incident happened here and many people were killed .It
was a shocking incident for the Indian at that time .To please the Indian British
ruler then taken a step to rebuilt the city. After
independence
