Ahmedabad is also called as Amdavad . It is among one of the big cities of India . It was capital of Gujarat . Now GandhiNagar is the capital of the state. Ahmedabad stands third position in the Forber’s list of fastest growing cities of the decade in year 2010.Ahmedabad as India’s best city to live is chosen by The Times Of India in the year 2012 . Ahmedabad is also world famous for cotton textiles production. Old Ahmedabad or the historic city of Ahmedabad was also declared First UNESCO World Heritage City Of India . Ahmedabad is famous for tourist attraction world wise. Ahmedabad is situated near the bank of the river Sabarmati in the northern part of Gujarat. The river runs through the centre of Ahmedabad city .The city is located at 23.02250N latitude and72.5714 0E longitude and also situated at 58 metres above the sea level. Ahmedabad is spread over an area of 464 km2 . Ahmedabad has semi arid climate and hot with marginally less rain.The climate is mostly affected by the Arabian sea . Winter ,summer and monsoon are the main season of Ahmedabad . It is very dry rest of year excluding the monsoon season which is very humid. Ahmedabad history begins by the Solanki Ruler in eleventh century, while their family ruled up to thirteenth century . After that Vaghela Dynasty of Dwarka took control of Gujarat . Then Gujarat was conquered by the Sultanate of Delhi in the end of the
thirteenth century. The city was
developed and planned by sultanate .
Under Sultanate the city enjoy as royal capital from 1411 -1573 until came
under the control of Murzaffa III.Akbar took control of Ahmedadbad ,after
defeating the Murzaffar III in 1573. In 1753 Marathas took control of Ahmedabad from Mughal. Maratha
ruled up to 64 years . Then British India Company took over the city in 1818.So Britisher also developed the city according to their modernization
method . The city also play an important
role for country’s struggle for freedom. After independence ,Ahmedabad was
separated from state of Bombay on 1st may 1960 and became the capital
of Gujarat , under Indian government. In the year 1970 the capital was
shifted from Ahmedabad (Amdavad) to Gandhinagar . The tourist spots
