Bikaner is a city in the northwest side of the state of Rajasthan in  India. It is 330 km northwest of the state capital Jaipur .Bikaner city is the administrative headquarter of Bikaner district and Bikaner division .Formerly Bikaner city was capital of the princely Bikaner state. Today it has  been considered  to be the fourth largest city in Rajasthan state from a small city at the origin.Bikaner is one of desert district situated in the North –West sides of  Rajasthan state. Bikaner  lies between  28.0229 ^oN  latitude and  73 .3119 ^oE longitude . Bikaner is located  at  242 metres  above the sea level . Bikaner is bounded on the North by Ganganagar , Jaisalmer  district and Pakistan  in the west. Churu and Nagaur  in Eastside. Jodhpur district in South –East . Bikaner  is located in the middle of  the Thar desert .It has a hot  semi arid climate. Climate has very little rainfall and extreme temperature.In winter climate may dip below freezing and very hot  temperature  in summer season. Bikaner maximum average temperature is 50 ^oC and minimum average temperature is  23 ^oC.The Annual

rainfall of  Bikaner is in the  ranges of 260 - 440 millimeters(10 -17 in ch ). Rao Bika established the city of Bikaner in 1488 . He was the first son of Maharaja Rao Jodha of the Rathore clan the founder of Jodhpur conquered the country in the north of Rajasthan. Rao Bika does not want to enjoy his ancestor property. He want his own kingdom . So he established Bikaner a separate state with in Rajasthan state. Bikaner  was  considered  to be an oasis on the trade route between central Asia and the Gujarat coast as it had adequate  spring water, which gives pleasure to the trader at that time. The city and state came after the name of Rao Bika because the king made the Bikaner state . After his few generation it came under the control of Mughal Empire ,and then came under the control of British Raj till post-Independence .After Indian Independence it come under the control of Government of India . Type of languages available in Bikaner are : Hindi ,English , Marwari ,Urdu  ,Punjab and other. Type of religions available in Bikaner are : Hinduism ,Islam,Jainism ,Sikhism and other.
