Tinsukia is pronounce as “ tin ‘sukia”. It is an
industrial town. It is one of the big city of Assam. The city is consider as
the administrative headquarter of Tinsukia District of Assam ,India. Tinsukia lies between 27.48860 N latitude
and 95.35580 E longitude. Tinsukia is situated at 116m above the sea level. Tinsukia is also situated 480 km north–east side of Guwahati and 84 km
away from the border with the state of Arunchal Pradesh. There are two types of
climates found in Tinsukia, the wet
season is hot, oppressive, mostly cloudy while dry season is warm and mostly
clear. The best tourist times to visit Tinsukia is mid February to early April and from late October to early
December.The average maximum temperature is 28.96 0 C and average minimum temperature is 20.02 0C.The average rainfall of
the city is 2699 mm. Tinsukia district came under the Chutiya kingdom during
medieval period .Ahoms Dynasty captured this region after they defeated the
Chutias and placed Sadiya kuria Gohain to rule the region. After the Moamoria
rebellion,this place come under the control of Motok kingdom .Bengmara was old
name Tinsukia city.Sarbananada Singha of Chutia royal family shifted the
capital of Bengmara ,which had been built in middle of the present Tinsukia. In
British Raj ,1823 the Britisher first discovered tea plants in Sadiya and
started tea industry in Tinsukia which is one of the main industry of Assam.1882 ,the Britisher opened the Dibru
–Sadiya railway station in Tinsukia which made the place as one of the important
business centre of Assam.After ,India ‘s Independence Tinsukia was declared the
23rd district of Assam. On 1 October 1989 it was separated from
Dibrugarh, Assam Tinsukia is consider to be a turning point in the economic development of
North–East
India .The district is nowadays inhabited by various communities mainly Moran ,Motok
,Adivasi ,Tai Ahom ,Sonowal kachari ,Nepali Singpho ,Bengali ,Marwari and
Bihari. Type
