Kumbhalgarh or Kumbhal
Fort also popular and famous as the
Great Wall Of India. Kumbhalgarh originates from “ Kumbha”, denoting the ruler
Rana Kumbha who constructed it, and “ Garh “, means Fort. The Great wall of
India is a fortress on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills in the Rajasthan
state. Kumbhalgarh situated approximately 84 km from Udaipur. It was built
during the 15th century by
Rana Kumbha. The wall of Kumbhalgarh is one of the longest continuous walls in
the world. Kumbhalgarh is also the birthplace of great king and military leader
Maharana Pratap of Mewar. In 2013 , Kumbhalgarh Fort along with five other
forts of Rajasthan was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site under the group
hill forts of Rajasthan .Kumbhalgarh is located in the Rajsamand district of
Rajasthan state ,on the western range of the Aravalli Hills.kumbhalgarh is
situated between the 25 08’56’N0 latitude and 73 034’ 49’ E0 longitude. Kumbhalgarh Fort ( Kumbhalgarh) was built on a hilltop at
an attitude of 1,110 meters (3,600 feet)above the sea level. Kumbhalgarh has a
hot and dry climate with temperatures that vary by season.
Kumbhalgarh maximum average temperature is 28- 42 oC and minimum average temperature
is 25 -35 oC. The Annual
rainfall of Kumbhalgarh is 836.09 mm. Kumbhalgarh Fort was built by Rana Kumbha who
was the Rana of Mewar from the Sisodia Rajput Clan . Rana kumbha’s kingdom of
Mewar stretched from Ranthambore to Gwalior. Rana Kumbha had built 32 of them
out of 84 forts situated at his kingdom.Sultants like Ahmad Shah II of Gujarat
and khaliji succeeded to capture kumbhalgarh and also after capturing the
kingdom they tried to destroy the temples located at that place .But local
people belief that God save kumbhalgarh along with temples.Later kumbhalgarh
was captured by Mughal .Brave Pratap captured the kumbhalgarh in
kumbhalgarh and made it army Barrack. After Independence it came control under India Government and today it has became a part of Rajasthan State. Type languages available in Kumbhalgarh are : English, Hindi, and Mewari. Type of religious are available in Kumbhalgarh are : Jain and Hindu .
